FLORETTE BLACKWOOD

Mrs. Florette Blackwood has over twenty years of experience in policy design and project management within government and non-government organisations at the national and international levels. Her specialised skills include Strategic Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, Youth and Community Development, Sports Administration, Sport Tourism, Micro-Enterprise Development, Gender Affairs, Peace Building and Relationship Management.

She was the principal writer of the Green Paper on the Jamaica National Sports Policy and has worked to develop policy guidelines for sporting associations and federations proposing to host international sport events in Jamaica.

Mrs. Blackwood joins the Board of the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission after having served as its Acting Executive Director from November 2011 to April 2012. She is also a member of the Sport and Entertainment Committee of the Ministry of Tourism, the Tourism Competitiveness Task Force and a volunteer teacher with the Jamaica Foundation for Lifelong Learning (JFLL). She has a wealth of volunteer experience, having also been a member of the boards of the Social Development Commission (SDC), the National Youth Service (NYS) and the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA). She has also been a part of several other organisations and initiatives aimed at development both nationally and internationally.

She holds a B.Sc. in Social Work from the University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona and a M.A. in Conflict Analysis and Management (2002) from Royal Roads University in Canada.
