Dr. Peter Charles

He served as Resident at the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI) from 2002 to 2008, before working as Senior Resident at the Kingston Public Hospital in 2009. In 2010, he was Chief Resident at the Regina General Hospital in Saskatchewan, Canada before returning to the UHWI to fill a similar post in 2011. He has also lectured in the UWI Mona’s Department of Surgery and in the Doctorate of Medicine programme in the Bahamas.

Dr. Charles is a member of the Medical Association of Jamaica (MAJ) and the Association of Surgeons of Jamaica. He was previously a member of the Jamaica Medical Doctors’ Association (JMDA), the Jamaica Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel and the Intergovernmental Bioethics Committee of UNESCO. He is currently a member of the Board of Independence Park Limited (IPL) and has also previously served on the Board of the South East Regional Health Authority.

In 2007, he served as volunteer doctor for the ICC Cricket World Cup and since then he has been a part of medical teams for track and field events. He also gives service at health fairs and other public events across the island.
