JADCO DUB POETRY COMPETITION HAS BEEN EXTENDED

 

You will recall that at the 2023 Junior Athlete’s Workshop, the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission launched its Dub Poetry Competition.

The Dub Poetry Competition is designed to  increase awareness of the Commission’s role in the fight against doping in sport within secondary schools. The competition seeks to engage student athletes in a contest which will enable them to demonstrate their creativity.

We are pleased to share that the deadline for submitting  entries has been extended to Friday, September 20 at 3:00 p.m.

 Your entry should resonate with the importance of fair play and staying true to the spirit of competition. Remember, JADCO stands by the powerful message, “No Dope to Cope” as well as develop a captivating dub poem that champions clean sport.

Prizes:

  • 1st Place: $40,000 + Trophy
  • 2nd Place: $30,000 + Trophy
  • 3rd Place: $25,000 + Trophy

The dub poem must be:

  • 3 minutes in length and submitted as an MP3 file
  • Original musical instruments or rhythm may be used as accompaniment

All entries will be judged based on the following criteria:

  • Originality – must not copy or reflect any other work
  • Knowledge – of the Jamaica Anti-Doping Programme
  • Relevance – the dub poem must reflect the slogan “No Dope To Cope
  • Creativity – the dub poem must be creative and catchy

The entries will be reviewed by a panel of judges and the top 12 will be uploaded to our Instagram page at: @ja_antidoping. The winner of the JADCO Dub Poetry Competition will be announced on Tuesday, October 1 at the first in the series of the 2024 Junior Athletes Anti-Doping Education Workshops.

All entries must be submitted via email to commed@jadco.gov.jm. Please note, JADCO will own all rights to the winning dub poem at the end of the competition.
