Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, Olivia Grange, officially welcomed the newly appointed members of Jamaica’s Independent Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel (IADP).’
She spoke with the new panel during a briefing session at the Spanish Court Hotel on Friday, February 13, 2026.
Emphasising Jamaica’s dedication to upholding international anti-doping standards, Grange highlighted the panel’s crucial role in maintaining the integrity of Jamaican sports amid evolving global regulations.
Grange stressed the importance of the panel’s independence from the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission (JADCO), urging members to stay abreast of international developments and deliver timely decisions to protect athletes’ rights and Jamaica’s sporting reputation.
Minister Grange said: “On behalf of the Government and people of Jamaica, I express my profound appreciation for your service. You carry a significant responsibility, and your role is vital to protecting the rights of our athletes, safeguarding the integrity of our competitions, and ensuring Jamaica continues to meet the highest global standards.”
The session marks a pivotal moment as Jamaica prepares for upcoming changes to the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Code and International Standards, set to take effect in 2027.
These amendments will necessitate updates to Jamaica’s Anti-Doping in Sport Act and JADCO rules, ensuring continued compliance with the UNESCO International Convention against Doping in Sport.
The minister encouraged panel members, both returning and new, to engage with WADA updates, attend training, and review emerging jurisprudence to navigate the dynamic anti-doping landscape effectively.
The appointments reinforce Jamaica’s position as a leader in clean sport, fostering fairness for athletes and bolstering the nation’s international standing in athletics and beyond.
