JADCO TAKES CLEAN SPORT MESSAGE TO ST. THOMAS AND PORTLAND WITH ANNUAL ROAD SHOW
Kingston, Jamaica – The Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission (JADCO) will take its clean sport message to communities in St. Thomas and Portland on Thursday, August 27, 2026, as it hosts its annual road show under the theme “Clean Ride: Win with Pride.”
The road show will make two stops on the day, beginning at Rudolph Elder Park in St. Thomas at 10:00 a.m., followed by Port Antonio Square in Portland at 2:00 p.m.
The annual initiative forms an important part of JADCO’s public education campaign and is designed to take the anti-doping message directly to communities across Jamaica. Through engaging activities and face-to-face interaction, JADCO seeks to increase public awareness of the importance of clean sport, the harmful effects of doping, and the values of fairness, integrity, respect and ethical behaviour in sport.
JADCO’s Executive Director, Mrs. June Spence Jarrett, says the annual road show provides an important opportunity for the Commission to take its clean sport message beyond the traditional sporting environment and directly into communities, and to remind Jamaicans that protecting the integrity of sport is a shared responsibility.
“Education remains one of our most powerful tools in the fight against doping in sport. Through the annual road show, we can meet Jamaicans where they live, work and play, and engage them in meaningful conversations about clean sport. We want athletes, parents, students and members of the wider public to understand that protecting the integrity of sport is a shared responsibility, and that making informed and ethical choices is essential to preserving the spirit of sport,” Spence Jarrett said.
The road show will combine education with entertainment, creating a fun and family-friendly experience for members of the public. Activities will include educational engagement with the JADCO team, entertainment by Vibe Master Jerry D, prizes, surprises and back-to-school giveaways of backpacks, lunch bags, pencil cases, notebooks and water bottles.
JADCO is encouraging residents, athletes, parents, students and sports enthusiasts in St. Thomas, Portland and surrounding communities to come out and participate in the activities.
The road show is an important opportunity to engage communities beyond the traditional sporting environment and to remind Jamaicans that protecting the integrity of sport is a shared responsibility.
Spence Jarrett also encouraged members of the public to make the most of the opportunity to learn, participate and support clean sport.
“We are excited to bring the road show to St. Thomas and Portland this year. These communities have a rich sporting tradition, and we want to use this opportunity to celebrate that talent while reinforcing the values that make sport meaningful; fairness, discipline, respect, honesty and integrity. We are inviting everyone to come out, enjoy the entertainment and activities, learn more about clean sport, and join us in sending a strong message that clean sport must always be the only sport,” she added.
The road show has previously travelled to communities including Ocho Rios, St. Ann; Montego Bay, St. James; Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland; Mandeville, Manchester; May Pen, Clarendon; and Santa Cruz, St. Elizabeth. This year’s stops in Morant Bay, St. Thomas and Port Antonio, Portland continue JADCO’s commitment to reaching Jamaicans across the island with its anti-doping education and awareness message.
As the new academic and sporting year approaches, the Commission is also using the initiative to reinforce the importance of making positive choices and embracing the values that contribute to success both on and off the field.
